Sorbitan monolaurate is a detergent and monoester of lauric acid and hexitol anhydrides derived from sorbitol. It is used in a study to assess enhanced solubility and oral bioavailability of itraconazole.

Sodium n-dodecyl sulfate 20% aq. solution is used as an anionic surfactant. It is also used as fat emulsifier, a wetting agent, a detergent in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and toothpastes. It also serves as a research tool in protein biochemistry.

Detergent, equivalent to Nonidet P-40. For solubilizing membrane proteins, IGEPAL™ CA-630 is used as a detergent in paper industry, hand cleaners, metal cleaners. It is suitable for solubilization, isolation and purification of membrane protein complexes and in two-dimensional gel electrophoresis.

An emulsifier Sorbitan monooleate is used as a lipophillic non-ionic surfactant, emulsifier, stabilizer for oil based lotions, ointments, in textiles as antistat, lubricant for fabric softener, sweetening agent, food additive, toothpaste, tobacco, toiletries and in cosmetics.

Buffer; zwitterionic nondenaturing detergent for solubilizing membrane proteinsCHAPS is used in the laboratory to dissolve biological macromolecules such as proteins. It acts as a non-denaturing solvent used in purification of membrane proteins.
