Glycosyl compounds are derived from carbohydrates and consist of sugar that contains a glycosidic bond and an additional functional group. These compounds may be used or classified based on the bond type and the presence of sugar or glycone. These products include anhydrous D-(+)-trehalose, an inducer of autophagy that protects cells against numerous environmental stresses.
