Lactic acid is an organic acid that is a hygroscopic, nonvolatile liquid. It is corrosive, water-miscible, and has two enantiomeric forms due to its chiral a-carbon atom. Lactic acid is available in a variety of purities, reagent grades, and quantities. It can be used in various medical, industrial, and research applications.
