Penicillin G potassium salt is used as a cell culture additive as an antibiotics. Use to inhibit the synthesis of bacterial cell walls by inhibition of the cell wall peptidoglycan chain cross-lining. It is the drug of choice for groups A, B, C and G streptococci, nonenterococcal group D streptococci, viridians group streptococci, and non-penicillinase producing staphylococcus. The potassium salt has been used to study murosomes of staphylococci and the penicillin-induced lysis of Streptococcus mutans.
This Thermo Scientific Chemicals brand product was originally part of the Alfa Aesar product portfolio. Some documentation and label information may refer to the legacy brand. The original Alfa Aesar product / item code or SKU reference has not changed as a part of the brand transition to Thermo Scientific Chemicals.
