General Description

Heparin sodium salt displays anti-coagulant activity. It can also efficiently inhibit mesenchymal cell proliferation and promotes the proliferation of primary epithelial cells
This compound can bind to antithrombin III and inhibit coagulation proteases

Applications

In in vitro studies, it is used as the main component of serum-free media to prevent cell aggregation
Heparin sodium salt can also induce the growth of human embryonic stem cells in a defined serum-free medium, acting as a cofactor for a basic fibroblast growth factor (FGF-2)
It is also applied in laboratory studies related to stem cell differentiation and growth
In in vitro studies this compound exhibits cytotoxic action inducing cancer cell death by interfering with transcription factor activity
