Nalidixic acid is a synthetic 1,8-naphthyridine antimicrobial agent. It is also used as an inhibitor of bacterial DNA gyrase. It plays an important role in the treatment of urinary tract infections caused by susceptible gram-negative microorganisms, including the majority of E. Coli, Enterobacter species, Klebsiella species and Proteus species.

Solubility
Soluble in diethyl ether, acetone, methylene chloride, chloroform and methanol. Insoluble in water.

Notes
Light sensitive and air sensitive. Store in a cool place. Keep the container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated place. Incompatible with strong oxidizing agents.
