It also provides protection against oxidative damage. It is also used as a food coloring and a vitamin. Further, it is employed as a medication, animal feed supplement and nutritional supplement. In addition to this, it is used as a flavoring agent.

Solubility
Soluble in water, absolute ethanol and dimethyl sulfoxide. Insoluble in acetone and chloroform.

Store in a cool place. Incompatible with Strong oxidizing agents, reducing agents, bases, calcium and metallic salts.
