Syringic acid is used as an inhibitor of poly(ethylene glycol) oxidation. It is used for the preparation of poly(1,4-phenylene oxide). It is added as an additive in wine and vinegar.

Applications
Syringic acid is used as an inhibitor of poly(ethylene glycol) oxidation. It is used for the preparation of poly(1,4-phenylene oxide). It is added as an additive in wine and vinegar.

Solubility
Soluble in methanol (50 mg/ml), water (5.78 mg/ml at 25°C), chloroform: methanol (1:1), ethyl alcohol, and DMF.
