Applications
Bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate is used as dielectric fluid in capacitors, erasable inks and vacuum pump oils. It is also used as plasticizer. Further, it is used as a hydraulic fluid and as a solvent in glow sticks. In addition to this, it is used to give softness and flexibility to polyvinyl chloride products. It finds application in products like tablecloths, medical tubing, floor tiles, toys, shower curtains, rainwear, dolls, shoes, garden hoses, furniture upholstery, and swimming pool liners.

Miscible with oil. Immiscible with water.

Store in a cool place. Incompatible with nitrates and strong oxidizing agents.
